FOUNTAIN VALLEY LODGE #191

March 2008 Trestleboard

Greetings Brethren,

On the 4th of February, the Job’s Daughters installation was well attended by Lodge brothers.  I was there to receive the mascot for the next term.  Miss Caitlin Bricker will be Honored Queen for this term.  Brothers in attendance besides me were Mark Pesut, Mike Bricker, WB Dan Brooks, and WB Gene Littlepage.  We receive participation points toward Honor Lodge status as a result of our participation.

Our Lodge and Eastern Star Chapter #155 on February 11th attended the DeMolay initiation of two young men into the Colorado Springs Chapter of the Order of DeMolay in the American Room in the Masonic Center .  This was a most interesting bit of floor work and ritual work.  Attending from our lodge were Brs. Rick Newcomb, Mike Bricker, Harvey Bucholtz, Mark Pesut, Jim Jarvis, John Reinking, WB Dan Brooks, WB Les Saylor and myself.  To a man it seemed we were all impressed by the work put on by these young men.

By the time you read this, the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #155 will have put on their annual spaghetti supper on February 23rd.  This has always been a fun event in the past.  I hope many Brothers will be able to take their whole families to this as it is an excellent fund raiser for the chapter.

Brother David Elliot, our scholarship chairman has one applicant for an interview for a Masonic Benevolent Scholarship.  The scholarship is renewable for four years at $7000 per year.

Mark your calendars!  On April 19th, WB Gene Littlepage and his lovely wife Jennifer are hosting a post income tax poor mans bean dinner.  It will take place at their residence, 7040 Kipling in Widefield.  This is an open event and our lodge families are all invited.  Start time is 5:00 PM and people may bring cornbread or that special bean dish of their own if they wish.  You don’t need to bring anything, just come and try to guess the mystery meat this year.

WB Bob Cook informed me our lodge has now accumulated 85 points of the necessary 400+ needed to earn Honor Lodge status.  He cautions us, however; these are the easy ones. WB Gene Littlepage is the Honor Lodge chairman.  He is charting our progress on the official paperwork.  Thanks to everyone who has helped get the momentum going.

Respectfully Yours, Norm
